feeling the love

Yesterday I started feeling sick in the afternoon and by 8pm I was lying on the couch feeling horrible. But I had promised one of my young women that I would come to her Senior solo concert, so I made myself get up and went to the last part of it and luckily caught one of her performances. I quickly left after she sang and about 15 minutes after I got home I was throwing up. Sophie's school is having their annual School Carnival tonight and apparently Sophie heard me in the bathroom because while I was bent over the toilet she poked her head in the bathroom and said, "Are we still going to the carnival tomorrow??"

P.S. Don't eat Little Caesar's pizza after it has sat in the car overnight. I think my pizza cravings will be on hold for a while now.

A song by the girls...

I overheard the girls making up a song together yesterday that went like this:

Sophie: "Manure?"

Nora: "Is cow poop!"

Sophie: "Manure?"

Nora: "IS cow poop!"

Sophie: "MANURE?"

Nora: "IS COW POOP!"

Sophie: "too doo!"

Nora: "too doo!"

Sophie: "too doo!"

It was a pretty catchy tune and has been stuck in my head since yesterday!

Easily Amazed

Yesterday morning Nora was by herself standing on a chair looking out our kitchen window (which the kids do multiple times daily) I was in the other room and I heard her gasp and say, "I have never seen anything like that in my whole life!" It made me laugh and wonder what she could see. I looked out the other window and saw one of those trucks driving down the road that has a round, spinning brush attached to the bottom to clean out the gutters. Cute girl.

Blood sucker

Yesterday we went to a nearby park and took a walk on a beautiful path through the trees. It is so fun to let the kids just run and explore and take their time enjoying nature. At one point we were looking into a marshy pond from a wooden boardwalk and saw a bug that we didn't know. Brian and I kept walking - trying to keep up with Miles - and the girls were still looking at the bug. I heard Sophie say, "I know what kind of bug that is. It's the kind that sucks out your blood!" A few seconds later they jumped up to follow us and we heard Nora cry out. I turned around and she was holding her hand up looking at it in horror and said, "Huh! What?" then started crying. Her finger was dripping with blood and she thought Sophie was right and that somehow the bloodsucker got her (even though I'm pretty sure she didn't touch it... and pretty sure it wasn't a blood sucker!) I think she must have cut her finger on the boardwalk as she jumped up, but it was pretty funny and I couldn't stop laughing at the look on her face when she thought the bug had sucked her blood! It took her a few minutes to calm down and realize it was just a cut from the wood and not the bug!
