One of these days....

One of these days my house will be completely clean and in order, my photos will be organized, my meals will be planned and my laundry will be done...........just not today. Or tomorrow. And somehow when I see these 3 faces and I realize how quickly they will be grown, and how precious each minute is with them - it doesn't really seem to matter.

It's been one of those weeks that gives motherhood a bad name. What? It's only Wednesday? Hmm... I was sure it was at least Thursday. It all started last Friday when Miles came down with a fever that stayed between 100 and 102 until Monday. Sophie started complaining about a stomach ache Sunday afternoon and on Sunday night, while Brian was at a meeting, I was reading books to the girls and Sophie was holding Miles on the bed when she got the "I'm gonna puke" look on her face so I dashed to the kitchen and made it back to their room with a bowl that caught most of it. Too bad I didn't grab the baby and take him with me - his head got puked on. Along with the bed, blanket and pillows. So Sophie and Miles were crying - both for obvious reasons, and I had to strip the bed and put new sheets/blankets/pillows on, bath Miles and change his clothes (did I mention he was fresh from the tub just before being puked on?), change Sophie's clothes (thankfully her hair escaped - she hates the smell of puke, and if it had been puked upon she would have been crying that she could smell the puke but would have refused to take a bath. Yes, that's happened before.) And let me just say that one 3 year old little girl isn't much help in situations like this. Luckily, the drama of it all only lasted about 20 minutes (seemed longer) and soon enough we were all reading books again. Which is a very good thing because Brian saw the 3 consecutive phone calls from me and assumed it was the girls calling him repeatedly (which they do). And I didn't leave a message. I will next time. The last 5 nights have been a blur and the only one in the house who has had a decent nights sleep since Friday is Nora! I finally took Miles to the doctor today because it was obvious something was wrong. He is usually such a content little guy and I've been up with him about 8 times every night and would just cry every time we put him down. I highly suspected an ear infection and was right. So now we've got some antibiotics, a few good movies and some ice cream in the freezer. Recovery - here we come!

interesting observation

I took the kids to the zoo the other day and on our way in Nora told me, " Mom! I just saw a girl that was about your age!" Funny Nora.
