Sophie

Today Sophie was doing my exercise video with me and she says, "How many times do you have to do this before your body looks like hers?" I said, "Probably every day", and she says, "Well, I just don't want to have breasts like hers." I started laughing and told her she could do this video every day wouldn't need to worry about that because she wouldn't get breasts until she was older. Funny girl! I could just see her mind working and her worrying that doing the video would make her 7 year old body look like Tamilee.

Infomercials are effective.

While talking to Sophie about the possibility of moving to El Paso, Texas I said "We might get to learn Spanish because lots of people speak Spanish down there." She thought about it for a second and then said, "Hey - we might need to get Rosetta Stone!" Totally made my day. And she really only watches one show (The Magic School Bus) after school, but it always has an infomercial play in the middle of it.

This morning while putting on her gym shoes Sophie said to me:

"I think I'm going to run a marathon this summer."

A conversation overheard:

Miles: Daddy do you want to race?
Brian: Sure.
Miles: Okay, you can be behind me!

Miles

Miles has been saying such funny things lately... most of which I keep forgetting! Today he was watching me change Wesley's diaper and said to me, "He is one of my kind." :) Funny.

A few days ago I was singing some Christmas songs and he had finally had enough and said, "Mommy! That's annoying."

Miles wanted Sophie to play with him the other day, but she was reading and didn't feel like it... he and I had the following conversation:

Me: Miles, mommy wants to play with you!
Miles: No! Sophie!
Me: Sophie doesn't feel like playing right now, but mommy wants to. Can I play with you?
Miles: Noo! Me want to play with Sophie.
Me: Maybe Sophie will want to play in a while, but I will play with you right now.
Miles: (with a sigh) Okay... You can be a dead witch.
Me: What? So I just have to sit here and pretend to be dead?
Miles: Yep.

I thought that was a pretty smart way to get me to stop pestering him!

Today Nora and Sophie had a school Halloween parade. We watched Nora's class walk by once and then they went down to the gym and came back again. We waved a second time as she walked by and she called out, "You guys didn't see me in the parade!" and we said, "What do mean? You are still in the parade." and she said, "Oh!" I think she thought the parade started and ended at the gym.
Funny girl.

A few weeks ago the kids and I were all in the kitchen and I was feeding Wesley and stirring something on the stove at the same time (with a blanket over us...) Sophie, who had 2 friends coming over later, looked at me and said, "Umm... are you still feeding Wesley?" I said I was and she said, "Okay, just please don't do that when my friends are over!"
Oh, she is getting so grown up!

Why??

Why does it seem like on Sundays - in church - during the sacrament- that Miles chooses to say all kinds of funny things? Last Sunday he was sitting on my lap, facing me, during the sacrament and he suddenly points to my chest and says, "What are these? What ARE thems?" I went bright red and quickly grabbed his hands and tried to distract him but he was determined. He kept repeating himself and pulling his hands free and pointing. Both Brian and I were trying so hard not to laugh out loud. What a silly boy. I mean they've been there all along - why in the world did he have to ask right at that moment?
