Love him

Miles falls asleep sometimes during the day - which means a late bedtime. After a nap a few days ago he kept coming out of bed to tell us something. After coming out at least 4 or 5 times he came out again and I said, "What do you need buddy?" And very seriously he said, "Mommy. Me has bad news." I stifled a giggle and said, "What is it?" and he said, "Me got an owie at libary." I just love when kids say grown up sounding phrases and you wonder where they heard it from!

Funnies

Sophie was talking to my mom on the phone today and was telling my mom about the Smurfs. We saw a preview for a new Smurf movie a few weeks ago and Sophie is excited to see it when it comes out. My mom told her that I used to watch the Smurfs when I was a little girl and Sophie said to her, "Well, the Smurfs still exist here in Michigan!" Haha!

Miles and I were waving good-bye to Brian today as he drove off to go home teaching. As he drove off Miles turns to me and says, "Him's a dood duy." (He's a good guy)

Two minutes

Yesterday the kids were on a roll where all three of them were calling me for something upstairs and then they needed something downstairs and Nora wanted a frozen go-gurt and Miles was smacking Sophie over the head over and over again and it was just one of those chaotic and crazy moments that you have with kids. I finally said, "Can mommy please have just two minutes to use the bathrooom!?" Nora reluctantly said, "Okay" so I went in the bathroom and locked the door and she leaned in close to the door and shouted, "But you've only got two minutes!!"

Miles (again)

Today I called Miles my big boy and he said, "No! Me baby." And I said, "If you are my baby what am I going to do when this baby - (pointing to my belly) - is born?" He quickly replied, "Umm... call the doctor!"

Fun at church

Yesterday during sacrament meeting in church Miles lifted up my skirt and said, "Me see yours unnerwear!" Sophie and I started laughing so he of course kept saying it. Then I was holding him on my lap and he was looking up at me and said, "You has spiderwebs in yours nose." He could see my nose hairs and thought they were spiderwebs. Silly boy.

Big Brother

Today I was cuddling with Miles on Sophie's bed and I pointed to my belly and told him that there was a little baby in there and pretty soon he was going to be a big brother (we've talked about this before but I keep bringing it up in hopes it will help him be more ready when the time comes) He patted my tummy and said, "Is it human?"

Mothers Day

Mothers day was on Sunday and it always has me reflecting on the blessings of being a mother. It is not the easiest job to do (and I know it will only get harder as my kids get older). But when I consider the alternative - not being a mother - it brings me to tears and on my knees in gratitude that the Lord has sent me three of his children to be a mother to. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without them, and I am so thankful that motherhood is my calling right now, even with it's trials and stressors it is the best and only thing I want to be doing. I know that everything else I do is minimal in comparison to the importance in raising my kids to be what the Lord wants them - and needs them - to be in this scary and uncertain world. I am far from being the perfect mother. Sometimes I lose my patience, I say things I regret and ask my kids for forgiveness and I sometimes make a big deal out of nothing. But I love them, and I would give up anything in the world for the blessings that come from being their mom.
